Save all your vital stuff, pics, music, etc. onto a disk or flash drive.
Right click your hard drive’s name, choose format.
Pop in the windows 98 disk and install. Easy.

I think Win 98 should be a last resort.

First, try a scan for spyware, viruses and other malware. Those can **** up a lot of system resources.

Look online for any fine tuning info you can find for XP.

Third, from what I’ve read, XP and other Windows OSes can get bogged down after a while and may require a re-installation to get working right.

Fourth, if none of those work, try Linux. Download a live CD from Ubuntu or Kubuntu and give it a test drive before deciding whether or not to install it. Unless you have any Windows applications that you MUST have, you might be better off. Of course, you’ll have to store your personal files on a CD, DVD or other medium if you want them later.

Just make sure that you use 98 SE. The first 98 was pretty unstable.

I’m not really sure as to why you’d want to go backwards and use Windows 98. If I were you I would buy a computer that can handle Windows XP (which aren’t hard to find).
